A new law was passed on January 1st 2021.  It is SB 1079 and it was written to help with the disparities between home owners and investors.  For the last 10+ years big investors have been able to drive up the prices of homes here in California because they were the only ones that could afford to buy homes here.  Governor Newsom has brought up a new law to hopefully level that playing field for regular folks like you and me,  SB 1079 in essence means  “Homeowners in homes not corporations”.

Meaning that if you have the cash your bid will take priority at a Live Foreclosure Auction over a corporations or company’s bid.

This is a National Statistic:  According to the 2017 American Community Survey, investors own and rent out about 18.2 million one-unit homes, including detached homes, townhomes, and duplexes, providing housing for about 42 percent of the nation’s 43 million renter households.   – Aug 27, 2019
