California’s eviction moratorium — the state’s protections for renters who have been unable to pay their rent — will be expiring at the end of September 2021.

This means that starting October 1, property owners in California can once again evict tenants for not paying their rent.    To avoid being evicted, renters who have been financially affected by COVID-19 must pay a portion of their back rent, and can apply for rent relief through state or local programs.

Below you will find links to websites that you can apply on for Assistance with Rent Relief due to the Pandemic.

California For All –  If you cannot pay your full rent because of COVID-19, state law protects you from eviction until September 30, 2021. This applies to all residential tenants, regardless of immigration status.

Housing is Key – The CA COVID-19 Rent Relief program provides financial assistance for rent and utilities to income-eligible California renters and their landlords who have been impacted by COVID-19.  Both renters and landlords can apply for assistance.

Stay Housed LA –  The COVID-19 pandemic has cost people their jobs and livelihoods. This has left an estimated one-third of households not being able to make rent and facing losing their homes.  This is a fear no one in our community should have to face. You have rights though, and Stay Housed L.A. is here to help.

City of Long Beach CA Emergency Rental Assistance Program – (for Long Beach Residents only)  This program only serves tenants and landlords in the City of Long Beach. If you need assistance and are not sure if your unit or property is eligible for LB-ERAP, you may be eligible for the State program.
